I have gotten several questions and many searches to my blog by people that wanted to know how to add photos to their new iPod Touch. I have decided to put together a simple guide for those who haven’t figured out how to do this.
The steps are listed in order below.
1. Open up iTunes and plug in your white syncing cable.

2. When you see the above window pop up click on the Photos tab.

3. Select the folder that your pictures are located in. Once the proper folder is selected iTunes will give you the option of selecting all of your photos or you can pick selected folders and pick only what you want to add.
4. Once you are satisfied with your selection click the sync button. iTunes will optimize your photos for your iPod Touch and then copy them. Be patient, it will take several minutes this task, especially if a large amount of photos has been selected.
5. Once the sync is done you can check to confirm that the photos were copied over.

You should now see the addition of Photos in your Capacity bar.
6. It is now safe to eject your iPod Touch and check out your photos!

Nice to see someone put this together. I’m sure this will help many people.
Oct 16, 2010 @ 10:27:28
THANK YOU! for creating this websit it helped more than any of the other websites and now i enjoy my photos right on my ipod!
Jan 11, 2011 @ 21:06:49
thank you for showing how to do this. but i have another problem. when i get on iTunes, sometimes the folder that says ‘my iPod’ or whatever, isn’t there, and when it is, the photo’s, videos, music and apps and all isn’t there(please tell me if that doesn’t make sense). do you know what i should do?
Jun 23, 2011 @ 23:52:29
Oh my gosh please help! My ipod wont let me access my saved photos! The album is there, but its underneath the thing at the top that says ‘albums’ (under the photos app) its INCREDIBLY annoying. I try scrolling up but it just bounces back as if the ‘saved photos’ album doesnt exist. The photos in it are not in that album that has all the photos on your ipod, either. PLEEEASE HELP this is driving me mad!
Jul 08, 2011 @ 14:05:08
I’m having the same photo problem today when I updated a Tetris game. Now I can’t access my photos for the same reason as you mentioned.
Have you found a fix?
Jul 12, 2011 @ 21:08:09
You have to shut down the ipod and turn it back on again.
Jul 19, 2011 @ 11:43:05
Thanks Mary, that worked!

how do you add additional photos to your photo library without deletiny the ones yu already have
Jun 30, 2010 @ 21:39:21
thts what i want to know also if it will delete the phootos already on my ipod
Dec 25, 2010 @ 13:15:31
i am having the same problem. If i add photos the ones i had on the ipod go away. This is a real mess that Apple should have taken care of.
Sep 28, 2007 @ 21:42:38
It’s the same way as adding photos to any iPod isn’t it?
Sep 28, 2007 @ 21:54:42
It is the same, but a lot of first time owners who bought the touch have been trying to figure out how to do it.
Figured I would lend a hand!
Nov 10, 2010 @ 16:35:04
everytime i sync my ipod touch it says the photos are there but when i look through my ipod there is absolutely no pictures, the only time i can load any pics is when i restore my ipod and re sync the whole thing, that takes really long so i would like to figure out an easier way to make my photos stay on my ipod when i sync them
Sep 29, 2007 @ 16:54:06
cool tutorial , though it’s possible to check your Ipod to make sure the photos transfered while it’s still plugged in , you don’t need to eject it if it’s a touch
Sep 29, 2007 @ 18:25:36
I agree, cool easy step by step walkthrough
Oct 01, 2007 @ 17:52:19
While I admire your willingness to help, I think you’re missing the point. People aren’t asking how to add photos to their Touch because they’re morons who can’t find the “Photos” tab. They’re asking because iTunes throws up an error about 99% of the time upon hitting the Sync button. For example, every time I try and Sync my photos tab, I get an error that says “File was not copied because it can’t be viewed on your iPod”. The funny thing is that this error is totally arbitrary. You can have two .jpgs of exactly the same image, in the exact same format, with the only difference being the name, and iTunes will sync one, but not the other. I’ve only been able to get it to sync maybe TWO photos out of the dozens I’ve tried.
Oct 02, 2007 @ 18:55:59
That’s weird, what file extension are your pics Maven?
I think these guide is good for new iPod users who just want to know how to add photos. For problems like your you may want to call Apple support?
Oct 03, 2007 @ 05:07:41
Half my pictures throw an error, there seems to be no rhyme nor reason to which work and which don’t. And many end up completely distorted, although between syncs some may undistort and others may become distorted.
Basically, the photos isn’t working at all correctly…
Oct 06, 2007 @ 19:17:52
How can I add photos at full resolution without iTunes optimising them?
Oct 08, 2007 @ 16:31:36
Just last night, I tried to load .jpgs onto my touch and had the same problem. The 1 of 30 it said it could use was digitally scrambled. I went to the web site and downloaded the instructions PDF. In the photo section, it said something about MAC only for loading pics. Has anyone else seen this?
Oct 08, 2007 @ 19:46:09
It said only macs could put photos on the iPod Touch?
Oct 08, 2007 @ 19:47:15
Biddy, I don’t think you can do that. The reason iTunes optimizes the photos is so they look the best on the touch. Is there some reason you don’t want ti optimizing? Is it messing up your photos?
Oct 09, 2007 @ 02:57:40
Not so much messing them up, however when you zoom in on a photo on the Touch, you are zooming in on a low res image and you lose the fine detail.
Sep 15, 2009 @ 05:44:02
You can add photos at full resolution directly to the DCIM folder on the itouch. You if you dont make thumbnails a blank on will appear but the photo will be fine. I put in a few 10meg pics, but it takes a while for each picture to appear, about 10 secs. initially.
Oct 09, 2007 @ 11:07:48
Biddy, when it optimizes them it makes them smaller?
Maybe they just do it to conserve space on the touch?
Oct 10, 2007 @ 08:46:04
Did itunes optimize the photos for the older iPods such as the 5G? I don’t remember ever seeing it doing that, but maybe I missed it.
Oct 23, 2007 @ 15:13:43
thank you very much
It has solved my problem in minutes..
Oct 25, 2007 @ 15:18:10
hi, i have problems syncing photos to my ipod touch, they apear on my ipod with lines and points, the photos are bad, and in my computer i have like 400 photos, and itunes just sync like 50 and itunes show that some photos cannot be sync because they cannot be seen in ipod touch, please help me, what can i do
Jun 27, 2009 @ 12:30:09
I just got a fix by calling apple while I was in midst of a sync. Select a file for snyc which
include no pictures and sync. That does some kind of reset. The select the file including
your photos, resynd and voila. . . perfect! Apparently two successive sync’s to the same file
causes the second one to think that those pictures are already on the Touch and so it does
nothing. You have to do a fake sync to make the Touch think that the sync is bringing in
different images. Anyway it worked perfectly for me.
Jul 02, 2010 @ 06:51:14
i cant seem to find the photos tab so is there another way to upload the pics
Oct 25, 2007 @ 18:39:43
Alwin, what is the file extension on the end of them? Is it jpg?
Oct 30, 2007 @ 20:16:01
I assume that you use NTFS. It seems that Itunes can sync only from FAT16 or FAT32 without giving errors. Try to sync from a drive with FAT, like a flash drive and voila!
Nov 04, 2007 @ 18:24:16
hi, I am having similiar difficulties with the pictures on the iTouch. The pictures will not properly display or upload to the iTouch.
Example: Tonight I uploaded 89 photos, out of all 89 photos only 11 pictures showed up on the iTouch and only 5 pictures are viewable the others have lines and distortions in them with different colors shooting through. I am getting an error message saying iTouch can not show some pictures as they will not properly display on the iPod.
I am unsure if this is a lemon iTouch or if there is a program I am suppose to use. I read all the instructions and sync the pictures correctly. I read that if you are using Windows to use the Adobe Photo Elements so I downloaded the trial version to see if this would fix the issue and if so I would purchase the Adobe software for the pictures but all the same problems are happening.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Thank you for your time and help.
Jun 02, 2009 @ 12:41:05
I wondered if this has been answered? I am having the same problem. When I first got my Ipod Touch photos were being synched and displayed with no problems but it seems following an update (can’t remember if it was an iTunes or Touch update) I now get this problem. Hardly any of my photos sync and many of those that do are distorted. I haven’t changed anything about how I store my photos on my PC (I use Adobe Photoshop album) so the only thing that has changed is the Apple updates. Any ideas?
Jun 27, 2009 @ 07:15:41
I, too, am having this problem. I’d downloaded a slew (700) photos successfully but then realized that I had to get them into files so I could selectively look at them. I spend a few
hours doing that, and then resynched them all only to find that after about 50, one picture
was half-composed, half-garbage. When I called Apple, I was told to retry it but now that
I hear about so many others having the problem, I’m not very assured. I can’t immediately try to re-snych, because I had to uninstall iTunes and go back to the old version due to a bug
in the newest version that bombed iTunes when it tried to access Gracenote; thus no loading
could be done on my Nano. Now, since the Rel 3 of the OS is incompatible with the back
release, I can’t get iTunes to access the Touch. Solution, is load up my Nano, update
iTunes, and forget about putting anything on the Nano until the Gracenotes bug is fixed.
Meanwhile, I’ll update to the current release to use my Touch. Surely there must be a
better way but Apple knew of no way to keep two versions of iTunes on one PC. I’m
WXP, not apple and all my images are .jpg. Nothing tricky about them. . . some are
edited by Photoshop 7 and some are directly from my camera.
Any suggestions on how to escalate these seemingly high level problems to Apple?
Nov 05, 2007 @ 15:57:07
Geri66, what is the extension on the pictures? I have a mac and I didn’t have any problems. Just plugged in my iPod and had iTunes copy them over to my iPod Touch. What is the average file size on each photo as well?
Nov 05, 2007 @ 19:06:43
Hi, I’m having a slightly different problem to the rest, every time I sync a new set of photos, they delete the previous ones from my touch! Any ideas?
Nov 22, 2009 @ 04:09:20
i have that same problem and i have a mac
Nov 22, 2009 @ 04:09:44
does anyone know how to fix it?

i dont know if its just me or every user of ipod touch has this problem. the thing about syncing the photos is that the current photo contents of the ipod gets deleted everytime you add new batch of photos. Is there a way to prevent this? I gets so depressing why does ipod designed that way?
Jan 26, 2008 @ 15:33:22
so back to Luis’ question… when iTunes is opened and the iTouch shows in ‘devices’, those tabs are NOT showing up. Any advice? Is there something I’m not doing correctly or do I need to call the Apple folks (hang out on hold for the afternoon)? hoping someone can help me.
Feb 19, 2008 @ 18:34:53
Hi Already worked out how to put photos on – made a new folder and just selected that one. However, now need to know how to remove them. Want a change! Is the only way to erase all contents and settings? Seems rather drastic!
Mar 08, 2008 @ 09:50:04
Same problem – no tabs showing up. No photo tab. I’ve gone into preferences and nothing is showing. Can anybody help?
Mar 16, 2008 @ 20:44:32
For you having trouble syncing photos its because your names are to long (ex2) the file system MAC OS uses can only see normal characters and no symbols such as -. Where as NTFS can support the longer filenames and certain special characters. Also someone mentions it only working from FAT filesystems thats because FAT has the same restrictions that ex2 has NTFS is the newest and supports better labeling
Mar 18, 2008 @ 20:21:18
OK, when I try to load pics or music I dont get the option of where I want to get the items from until I click a lil thing telling me I will lose all of the items alreayd on there first. same prob about syncing the photos. the current photo contents of the ipod gets deleted everytime you add new batch of photos.
Please someone answer why and how to solve.
Thanks,
Mar 27, 2008 @ 08:41:03
What about bypassing iTunes completely…using Vista, the moment I fire up iTunes I lose my DVD/CD drives and have to go into the registry and then reboot to get them back. I’m sure people are going to blame Windows, but until then, I just dont use iTunes. Is there a way to get photos to the iTouch without it? (BTW, I use MGTek to get music to the iPod and it works great)…
Mar 29, 2008 @ 11:47:15
If it was that easy I would have done it hours ago. My photo tab is grayed out. Only by pressing sync first, which then will delete all existing photos can I proceed. I have an ipod-touch which says the same for trying to add movies if i press syn it will delete all my tv shows songs and more. Do you know why? Apple site no help at all.
Apr 13, 2008 @ 13:08:08
how do you set up where you can put videos upp and syn thm into the ipod touch
May 28, 2008 @ 13:15:49
Wow,
You are such a retard. Everyone knows how to sink photos unless their handicapped. What they want to know is how to add photos without syncing, so they can get all their family and friends photos that they want. duh.
Dec 28, 2009 @ 16:33:11
Pots and kettles (to shorten the saying).
sync (as in synchronize) not sink. Your first their usage should actually be they’re as in they are. (unless they are handicapped).
Proof your post before calling someone a retard.

I have a different problem with the photos. I have figured out how to upload multiple albums, but one and only one of the 8 albums uploaded had the pictures in a completely different order than what they are in my PC. It is a album that needs to be viewed in a specific order and on my PC-correct order, on my itouch- mixed up? Help!
Dec 25, 2010 @ 13:59:35
how did u upload multiple albums.

Jul 08, 2008 @ 02:50:28
I am experiencing the same problem as Amber. I prepared a sepaerate folder containg those photos that I wanted to download to my iPod touch. I made sure that the photos in the new folder were in the order I wanted then in. The folder downloaded OK to the touch but the photos are completely jumbled up with no logic to the order. It’s a mess and makes a nonsense of any side show which moves from one subject to another. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Jul 10, 2008 @ 13:50:37
the problem i am having is that all of my photos are on my laptop, but my latop’s motherboard has broke, i have also just broken up with my partner, and want to delete some pictures but i dont want to loose all of the existing pictures i had on there as there is no longer a way of getting them back, so is there a way of deleting one or two pictures without sincing my ipod touch, also i need a way of adding more pictures without deleting the ones i already have
do you have any idea how i can do this?
Jul 11, 2008 @ 15:31:14
I have found one way to get around the problem of itunes ignoring some photos or movies when adding to itunes library or when synching. Now every photo is synched without displaying any artifacts or distortion. Every movie is accepted. I have iPod classic and Windows XP. In itunes I enabled disk use for my iPod. In My Computer I create directory on iPod hard drive and copy all my photos to that directory . Then I add those photos to itunes library not from my PC directory but from the newly created iPod directory, then sync. Works every time. I do the same for movies because itunes doesn’t accept them from my PC directory either.
Jul 15, 2008 @ 08:54:51
I just found out a pretty nice program that actually transfers your iPod pics from and to the computer. And it works with the iPhone too!
Have a look at it. It’s worth it: http://www.copytrans.net/copytransphoto.php

I read all comment having the same problem copying pictures to my wifes Ipod touch ver 3.1
after reading this reply I downloaded and tried the softwre suggested
It works!!! and is very simple to copy individual pictures or multiple pictures and also to remove unwanted pictures from the Ipod..
Thanks Kahili..

just one thing to note… if you just use the free version, you’ll get permanent watermarks on the photos you add to your device!
Jul 17, 2008 @ 11:49:48
Mike: In order to have your photos on the Touch display in the order you prefer, go to your folder(s) containing the photos, and then put the following in front of the description for the first photo you want to see. For example, if you want to see “David.jpg” first, rename the photo “AAADavid.jpg”. If you want to see “Alice.jpg” next, rename the photo “AADAlice”. The Ipod Touch sorts the photos alphabetically. If you didn’t put the letters in front of the photo names, the Touch would display “Alice.jpg” first, and then “David.jpg” second, etc. The reason why I use three letters preceeding the photo name (AAA) is to make sure that I don’t run out of letters when I have 75 or 100 photos in each folder. The reason why I use AAA for my first photo, and AAD for my second, and AAG for my third is because in the event that I want to insert an additional photo at a later date (For example- Billy.jpg), and I want it to be displayed as the second photo between David and Alice, I would simply rename the photo “AACBilly”, and when I flipped through the pictures I would see David as photo 1, Billy as photo 2 and Alice as photo 3. What you are currently experiencing on your touch is the alphabetic sort which shows Alice first, Billy second and David 3rd — and no matter what order the photos are in your folder, the touch will still display them alphabetically. Please excuse the length of this post — I just wanted to be as clear as possible. Hope this helps!

I anyone is having trouble adding pictures to the ipod make shu youre ipod supports pix! I know the ipod classic supports it, i’m using ipod touch, and if there is still no photo button (or its greyed out) try out syncing them with a mac and if that works you may consider buying an old cheap mac on ebay / amazon or on apple.com.
Dec 03, 2008 @ 17:58:43
this is understood.
But is there any way of adding only the selected pics from a folder to iPod.
also is there any way of creating folders on iPod so that different pics can be accumulated in different folders.
would be glad if u mail me your response.
Thank you
Dec 04, 2008 @ 00:51:41
For all having trouble finding the tab,
you have to click on your ipod picture in the side, then if the mobile me thing pops up scroll to the bottom and say no thanks then you can see the tabs.
hope this helps

Anyone know how to add photos to an I Touch without using itunes on the home computer? The photos are not drm and shouldn’t be “protected” the way music is.

The update on how to add photos is very helpful, thanks.
Now I’m curious, how do I see what the contents of “Other” sync category are?
Thanks!

you can only synchronize your ipod touch to itunes, but how to add new photos to existing photos on your ipod?
Dec 20, 2008 @ 09:03:33
thank you I actually used the touch to figure it out.
Dec 21, 2008 @ 23:08:47
Had the same problem with synching photos. What worked for me is to copy the pictures I wanted to transfer to an SD card (a digital camera memory card) for which I have a slot in my laptop. Then to tell iTunes to copy pictures from the SD card (not the laptop’s hard disk). Hope this helps

Jan 12, 2009 @ 12:33:14
heeey
i was just wondering if this question is answerable or not:
I have already uploaded photos onto my ipod, and then when i went to upload more, a day later, and on a different computer it says it will delete my previous photos,…is there anyway around that?
I know some other people have been having problems with this as well, as i have read.
Thank you very much!
May 29, 2009 @ 15:58:40
I am looking for an answer to the same question.
I am not technically challenged. I have had other MP3 players and know how to move files and music and pictures around, and I’ve even figured out how to do the basic “sync” on my ipod- BUT- how do I add just one file/picture/song anything from say, a friend’s computer WITHOUT it deleting everything that’s there?
I have looked at numerous tutorials, I’ve clicked help buttons- I can’t find my answer. This is just one of many sites I’m searching at….
Jan 14, 2009 @ 20:43:52
I can’t seem to be able to put more than one folder of my photos, or select individual photos to sync with my ipod touch. I can only select the which folder button. Please help

Feb 17, 2009 @ 09:59:42
why has apple made this process complicated. it was a simple case of drag and drop before. after about 2 years of trying, i finally give up trying to sync photo’s to itouch.

I see others have posted by problem, but I don’t see any answers. I
want to upload a small album of photos to iPod Touch. If the iPod is connected and I’m in iTunes, I see the window with the tabs. I can see my iPhoto albums listed, but they’re in grey. The only active button is the one that would sync all my thousands of photos, which I don’t want to do. Why can’t I activate the button for a specific iPhoto album? thanks
Mar 17, 2009 @ 11:08:22
Anns, you need to tick the ;sync photos from’ box at the top and it then give you the options to choose your photos.

I don’t know if this is helpful but this is what I did. I had the same problem, everytime I was adding pictures the ones that were on the iPod were gone.
If you already have pics on your iPod that means you have the folder named iPod Photo Cache. Copy your photos in this folder, you can make different folders in it of course. Make sure that when you hit apply the folder from the pod will sync is iPod Photo Cache.
I know my English is not very good but I hope you’ll understand. Bye.

I have a 2nd gen. touch & try to avoid itunes as much as possible. To get a few pictures at a time onto your touch, you can do this:
Email the picture to yourself. When you have the picture open on the touch, tap and hold your finger on it, and you’ll get a “Save Image” dialog that lets you store the picture in the “Saved Photos” folder on the touch.
You can also do the tap and hold on any image in Safari, so if you have your pictures on the web (like in flickr) you can do the same thing.
Jun 14, 2009 @ 23:42:08
thank you, dude.!

As a Blackberry Curve owner and long time Microsoft user I have to say the itouch is truly a slick little device. However, look at all the posts asking how to do such basic things or how impossible they make it to import “didn’t pay Apple for” data. Oh, don’t get me started on itouch OS upgrade fees.
Problem is Apple’s hardware proprietary strategy, its laughable laptop prices will be its demise when it comes to increasing market share. Is it the inability of Apple’s developers or their marketing folks myopic view of reality that’s the problem?
The itouch only supports one photo library???
You can’t import existing MP3 files off another brand MP3 player???
Sure the itouch is really slick but Apple makes it impossible to use it to replace existing tools/toys. Bang bang bang….Is this mike on??

Thank you for the helpful info. I still have a problem: I can’t see the names of the photos. I have lots of students pics and I’ve named the photos after the students in order to quickly find them back. Unfortunately the iPod touch doesn’t seem to display text info about the photos, which is a bit of a bummer. Do you know a workaround?

but when i do, itunes says it synced,
and than i look on my ipod, and the pictures aren’t there.
the bar at the bottn shows picture space being used.
but i can’t see them on my ipod. at all
Jan 02, 2010 @ 15:25:26
You have to hit Apply
Nov 27, 2009 @ 01:42:57
First off I can’t believe that Apple can’t make software that allows you to SEE the images so you can check off the ones you want in multiple folders and then sync them all. Just filenames? Where are the iamges to help me pick and choose? It’s like photos are an afterthought.
Why can I delete images selectively from the Ipod touch?
Why are my images on the Ipod deleted when I sync new images?
Why can’t I select images from selected folders on multiple drives and then sync them?
Jan 17, 2010 @ 06:56:11
My thoughts EXACTLY!! I don’t like this synching, I would rather drag and drop chosen pictures into certain folders and be able to delete individual photos at will from the touch.

2.put other picture folders in the “root” folder

What sources can iTunes sync from?
iTunes 4.7 and later for Mac OS X can sync from:
* iPhoto 4.0.3 or later
* A selected folder of photos
iTunes 4.7 and later for Windows can sync from:
* Adobe Photoshop Album 1.0
* Adobe Photoshop Elements 3.0
* A selected folder of photos
Note: You cannot select a folder to which you do not have write access, like a CD. Later versions of Adobe Photoshop Album are not compatible. iTunes will only present the option to select a folder if a later versions is installed.
How much hard drive space do I need to sync my photos?
You need to have about as much free space on your hard drive as the size of your collection of photos. iTunes constructs a photo database on your hard drive in order to make photo syncing fast when you add new photos in the future.
What file formats can I sync to my iPod?
See iPod: Compatible photo formats for a list of file formats that can be used.
Can I sync my photos to my iPod manually?
You can’t drag individual photos or groups of photos to the iPod like you can with music files in iTunes, but you can choose how you want them to be synchronized (see below) by selecting the correct options:
iTunes 7 or later:
1. Connect your iPod to your computer.
2. Select the iPod icon when it appears in the iTunes window (below devices).
3. If the Photos pane does not show, click the Photos tab.
4. Select your photo syncing options.
In iTunes 6.0.5 or earlier:
1. Connect your iPod to your computer.
2. Select Preferences from the iTunes menu (Macintosh) or Edit menu (Windows).
3. Select iPod.
4. Select Photos.
5. Select your photo syncing options.
The syncing options include:
* If you use iPhoto 4.0.3 or later in Mac OS X, you can have iTunes automatically sync all of your photos and albums or just certain albums every time you connect your iPod.
* If you are using Adobe Photoshop Elements versions 3.0 or later, you can sync all of your photos or just certain collections of photos.
* If you are using Adobe Photoshop SE in Windows, you can sync either all of your photos or certain collections of photos. If you are using Adobe Photoshop Album SE in Windows, you can only sync all of your photos.
Note: While Photoshop Album allows you to sync only certain collections, Photoshop Album SE does not allow you to assign collection tags that are required for this to work.
* If you are not using any of the above applications, you can sync all of the photos in a selected folder, or only photos in specific folders inside the selected folder. Folders inside the selected folder will be displayed as photo albums on the iPod, but not subfolders beneath them.
Can I add photos from multiple computers or user accounts to one iPod?
No, adding photos can only happen from one computer or user account.
Can I sync photos from my iPod to another computer?
No, all photo syncing is one way only, from computer to iPod. You can put full-quality copies of all your photos on the iPod in the options available in the Photos pane. Then drag the full-quality photos out of the Photos folder on an iPod that has disk mode enabled to any other computer.
What does it mean when “Optimizing for iPod” appears in iTunes and what happens if I cancel?
iTunes creates TV-quality versions of your photos and stores them in a database on your computer. This makes it much faster when you add new photos to your iPod later. If you cancel this optimization, the photos are not added to the iPod.

What happens if you don’t have the photos section listed on the capacity bar on the iTouch? I followed your directions and found the bar on top that says photos and I found the folder on my computer (ipod picture cache) that has all my pictures. When I click on it nothing happens. It says it is syncing but nothing is transferred. I have gotten a message previously that the photo folder is missing. I restored my iPod Touch to factory settings to try and reinstall it but that did not restore the photo folder. How do I add the folder?
Mar 15, 2010 @ 10:57:25
Okay no problem sending pics to the Touch, but I cannot download them back to my PC. So any I get via email and save on the touch just stay there. How do you transfer the pictures from the ipod touch to the PC?

Apr 07, 2010 @ 04:35:48
This part is self explainatory. But the problem i’m having is transferring pictures from my ipod touch to my computer. When I first got my ipod it would do it automatically, now it won’t do it at all. I download a lot of picks from the net, and recieve a lot from friends, and can’t transfer them into my computer. I have over 13,000 pictures and can’t even look at them. When I press the Photo’s button it goes to the photo’s but than it reverts back to the main screen.
HELP!!!!!

You can try using ‘Photo Transfer App’, an iPhone application that lets you transfer photos from your computer to your iPhone or iPod Touch and vice versa (from iPhone to computer) over wifi.
The app it’s super simple to use and makes transferring photos ver easy without having to use iTunes at all. You only need the app and a web browser in your computer.
Here is a link to the app: http://www.phototransferapp.com/
Cheers

Hi,
So my question is this…I used to be able to go on my facebook from my itouch and double click on one of my pics and say save image and it would save it to my itouch without having to sync to my computer with my cable. I can’t seem to do it anymore and i’m not sure what changed. Any idea on why or how I can fix this? I would be very grateful

I managed to download lots of photos before and would like to delete some and add more. I have put all my photos on to an external hard drive as the photos took up too much space on my computer. The iPod can’t find the photos now. I guess I am I stuck? Is there a way to get it to hunt the source in the “H” Drive? Many thanks.

if i have pictures from a computer on my itouch and have pictures i want to get from a different computer, how can i get the other pictures without deleting the old pictures?? ):
Aug 11, 2010 @ 01:00:49
I followed these intructions, but I’m still not able to choose which pictures. When I click the square where it says, “sync photos from such-and-such folder”, it will only allow me to check “all folders”. the “selected folders” is not clickable; it’s grayed out. I was able to choose a certain folder and click “selected folders”. The photos showed up on the ipod touch, but i didn’t want all the photos. What am I doing wrong? When I viewed them on the ipod there was no way to delete the ones I didn’t want. Do you I need to put all the photos I want on the ipod into a specific folder and do ti that way?
Aug 12, 2010 @ 13:08:03
So I need a computer, internet connection and a camera to get photos on an iPod touch… shame on Apple.
Aug 14, 2010 @ 08:46:08
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
Aug 25, 2010 @ 17:31:06

Sep 01, 2010 @ 05:19:55
is it possible to add photos to an ipod touch without loosing the rest of your files that are already on your touch? i am traveling and all my music is on a HD at home, but i want to add some photos to my touch and i am afraid if i hit “sync” it will delete everything off my touch. if i click “manually manage itunes music” will that make it so it wont delete the music and only update/sync the photos?
Nov 28, 2010 @ 03:43:23

My itouch has a huge black space where my pictures are supposed to be. What should I do?
Sep 16, 2010 @ 01:10:58
I bought the ipod touch with the intent of using it as a mobile database of all of the technicall knowledge I have scanned and processed. It has a good enough memory and the visuals are perfect. However the god damned thing is driving me totally insane re: getting photos into it and the madness of third party files (those not ordained by Apple inc) over a wifi connection as opposed to the usb cable is sheer madness. Worse is that I read that it was formerly possible but Apple disallowed it. That on top of the 2 year + period of forgetting to inform the planet that the ipod touch had wireless capabilities, but that happened before I got this but WTF right ?????
Sep 29, 2010 @ 14:50:40
Is it possible to put pictures you’ve taken on an itouch BACK onto the computer, or can you only add pictures from computer to Itouch???
Oct 26, 2010 @ 20:27:09

My problem is having a window pop up when i try to sync my photos telling me that it will delete m apps. I know this tends to happen when you use a different computer to sync your itouch but I’ve been using the same computer the whole time. Mind telling what is really going on with either the computer or the itouch? Thank you very much.

I did not understand this FYI I’m 9 ad own q touch
Jun 18, 2011 @ 06:22:56
That’s not what I’m getting. I get two buttons, “Apply” and “Revert.” If I hit Revert it takes the photos out of the queue and if I hit “Apply” it asks if I’m sure I want to get rid of Skype. I’m trying to add photos. Why does it think I’m wanting to get rid of Skype?
Jul 19, 2011 @ 19:41:58
My ipod wont let me access my saved photos! The album is there, but its underneath the thing at the top that says ‘albums’ (under the photos app). I try scrolling up but it just bounces back as if the ‘saved photos’ album doesnt exist. The photos in it are not in that album that has all the photos on your ipod, either. I shut the Ipod off and turned it back on, but that didn’t work either.
Any ideas?

I have an IPOD Touch bought in 2010 in which I have stored over 10,000 pictures. These pictures were not taken by the IPOD but by my camera and stored on the Touch. Now all that shows up are the pictures that were taken by the Touch and none of the 10,000 that were stored there. How can I access these to down load them for safekeeping on my laptop????
Help
Oct 13, 2011 @ 19:56:37
I have a problem with a small amount of photos (20 thousand, low res) that are about 3 gigs on a usb stick. When I try to import them to the ipad through itunes they end up taking up waaaay more than the original 3 gigs. Whats going on. It makes it hard to judge how many snaps you can get on there. I don’t want to have to individually email myself 20 thousand times to keep the file size down. would something like DiskAid work, where I can just drag n drop the photos, bypassing iTunes ‘optimization’ bs.
Nov 02, 2011 @ 10:41:56
hi the prob with mine is that when i try doin the above process, the sync tries to delete all my apps…wht do i do????thanx

Bought new Windows 7 PC. Transferred folders of pics from XP to the new machine. Worked good. Can see all of them in Photoshop. I go to SYNC my photos with iTouch and it is all screwed up. Does not copy a lot of them and shows some greyed out tiles. And the photos it does synch properly, when i touch photo to try and scroll through them, i get a dark iTouch Screen. I have the 4th iTouch. Everything else fine. Videos and even pics taken with the iTouch are fine. All jpegs. No big difference. Have synced pictures before a zillion times. Deleted that iPod Photo Cache a lot of times too. Renamed pics, everything. Any ideas? I did not reset to factory yet.
