For all of you who recently got an iPod Touch for the holidays and want to join the rest of us who have jailbroken ours, you need to know one thing. You can’t jailbreak your iPod using firmware 1.1.2, you need to downgrade to 1.1.1. Thanks to this page, the simple steps for this are provided below.
1. Download the 1.1.1 firmware and save this file to your desktop. It’s quite large (150mb), so it might take a long time. If you’re having trouble downloading it, I recommend the Opera Web browser, which has a very stable pause/resume/recover-after-errors download function.
2. Once you’re done loading, open iTunes, plug in your iPod touch, and make sure it’s not rigged to automatically do anything–especially upgrade its firmware–when your iTouch is connected. Leave this setting on forever, or else you may wind up with a factory-reset iPod when Apple pushes out the next update.
3. When iTunes recognizes your iPod touch, shift-click (on a PC) or option-click (on a Mac) the Recover button. Instead of recovering to the most recent version, a special hidden menu will pop up and ask you for the location of the firmware file you’d like to recover. Choose the 1.1.1 firmware file, which you saved to your desktop, and let it work.
When your iPod touch reboots, it should come up with version 1.1.1, ready for our next step, Jailbreak.

2. hold the home and power switch at the same time until itunes doesnt recognized the ipod
3. take you hand off the power button but on the home button and hold the home until the ipod reappears
4. when the ipod reappears it should be ready for recovery mode

I downgraded my 1.1.3 iTouch to 1.1.1. There was a lot of music on my itouch, and after I downgraded the music is missing but there is a chunck of memory under other. How do i fix this so i can get my music back up again with out going through the headbanging 1.1.4 restore?
