I was excited and just wanted to announce this to you all. 1.1.3 has been successfully Jailbroken!
But now to the bad news…you still have to wait for it. The Jailbreak for 1.1.3 is not going to be released until Apple releases the Software Developers Kit (SDK) sometime in February. I’m not exactly sure why they are waiting to release the jailbreak. The only thing that comes to my mind is that they are doing this so Apple can’t patch the 1.1.3 Jailbreak when SDK is released.
You can check out my Jailbreak 1.1.3 update post for more information.
Here is video confirming the 1.1.3 Jailbreak. It shows the user moving around the icons and using installer on firmware 1.1.3.
** UPDATE** 10:50 EST Jan 20
This is from SkylarEC a moderator over at iPod Touch Fans.
As far as I know, the dev team (there is only one now, the Elite Team worked with the Dev Team) is holding off on the release of the JailBreak until after the SDK is released. That way, even if Apple requires another firmware update (1.2, 1.1.4, whatever) in order to use Apps downloaded through iTunes (somewhat incorrectly referred to as waiting for the SDK), we will all still be able to JailBreak, leaving us with access to a JailBroken iPod/iPhone AND the ability to download applications through iTunes.
That said, they are also working on back porting the 1.1.3 applications to work on 1.1.2. Be patient, as there is a good chance they will be out soon.
Also, you might not want to jump the gun to jailbreak 1.1.3 as soon as it is released, as many of your applications won’t work. The applications launched from SpringBoard no longer have the same root access (say good bye to things like Customize). Installer is being reworked to try to fix that for JailBroken applications. Others would have to modify their applications. In other words, 1.1.3 might not quite yet be the utopia you are all imagining it to be.
** UPDATE ** 6:30 EST Jan 28
Two methods of jailbreaking the iPod Touch are available. Feel free to check out the first method and the second method.

Oh man we gotta wait now
Maybe it will get leaked out somehow?
I thought I heard somewhere SDK was due to come out Feb 16th? Anyone else hear that?
Jan 19, 2008 @ 12:40:39
reasonable to me, I can wait until then with my 1.1.2.
They must be doing this so Apple doesn’t release 1.1.4 with SDK. But if it word gets out that it has been jailbroken at 1.1.3 won’t they just release a 1.1.4 anyways?
Jan 19, 2008 @ 13:08:39
does the jailbreak work for mac too?
Jan 19, 2008 @ 14:19:51
Yea jailnbreaking works on mac and pc, just have to use different programs to SSH.

What he did was make a webiste bookmark that looks like the installer icon, then used a screenshot, betcha
Jan 19, 2008 @ 15:29:31
bet he didn’t.
Webclips have little “x”s in the corner when you are in the customize home screen mode
Jan 19, 2008 @ 15:58:49
its real, and its not a webclip, because if it was, an + would be at the top
of the icon, …
Jan 19, 2008 @ 16:41:16
c’mon… it’s real.
he taps the installer and launch it. it’s not a webclip
Jan 19, 2008 @ 17:12:15
what if you don’t have any grandma’s left… no so easy then.
Jan 19, 2008 @ 17:36:13
Looks pretty damn real too me..I believe the video.
Jan 19, 2008 @ 18:35:47
Its also possible that they got ahold of an early sdk release and the jailbreak would require it.
Jan 19, 2008 @ 19:06:13
THIS IS iPOD TOUCH with the new upgrade
LOOK AT THE DOCK, ipod at the top left, no cell tower signal!!!!!!
Jan 19, 2008 @ 19:14:17
It doesn’t matter Phil. they both run firmware 1.1.3.
If you jailbreak 1.1.3 on the ipod touch you can do it on the iphone as well.
Jan 19, 2008 @ 20:21:08
ill betcha 1.1.3 aqlready includes support but regardless v2 (or 1.1.4, however 3rd party app support is a big enough feature to call it 2.0) they need to realese it soon for the iphone there are some bugs.
jailbreaking is still going to be used when 3rd party apps are realesed b/c
1. $
2. support (apples going to limit apps)
3. no ipod/iphone direct buying (maybe not….)
Jan 20, 2008 @ 00:33:38
its a good idea that we wait for it because if apple doesn’t know how we’ve done it it can’t patch it, and when they release SDK its a good chance they’ll release 1.1.4 along with it for compatibility. So in turn by waiting for 1.1.4 we can have a high assurance of an easy and fast if not immediate jailbreak of the iPhone
Jan 20, 2008 @ 03:41:13
If this Jailbreak doesn’t work on the iPhone….
that means apple already knows what you’ve done
I don’t think apple is that STUPID!!
they’ve just risked a couple of thousands iPhones to be unlocked (the first updates) just to know how hackers reacts … REMEMBER “It’s a cat and mouse game”

Now I can’t tell right now if that video is real or not because apparently traffic is high and I am at the end of the line.
I noticed just now (and confirmed with Apple’s website) that they changed the dock on the iTouch to match that of the iPhone in the 1.1.3 update. Why? I figured that maybe the reflection looks better with less icons above it which will also look bad with a home screen cluttered with icons. Now, if I hadn’t noticed this dock change, I would claim that this video would have been real because it being jailbroken they had changed the dock to the iPhone kind.
Also, I think whoever released the info of it being cracked may have been stupid to say anything. I can understand the idea of wanting to ‘be the first person to crack it’ is overwhelming, but now that it’s out, apple might step things up a notch to find out or figure out any conceivable method to jailbreak it and patch it, encrypting this and patching that, just making it more difficult who really do want to jailbreak it.
One thing I am not looking forward to with this SDK is some things I like having on my Phone. One example is Apache and PHP. Sounds impractical, but I like to have web-apps I develop available wherever I go, even if reception sucks. Chances are that the environment programs can operate in will not allow ‘background’ services such as Apache and ‘command-line utilities’ such as PHP to operate freely and correctly. Also, of course, I like modding the internals of the iPhone’s software, such as making that slider Green, and not just the stale grey. Also, don’t forget that Themes!! I think that with the 3rd Party development coming into play, people are still going to do this jailbreaking deal, because people want to run full-blown things that Apple will just simply limit.
Enough Said (Not to take up too much space here).
Jan 21, 2008 @ 16:58:24
does this mean if i get an iphone, and its 1.1.3 OTB i will be able to jailbreak it? meaning i will have the new features and 3rd party apps? will turbosims or similar still work?
Jan 21, 2008 @ 18:12:36
alex, 1.1.3 well be jailbreaked. Actually it all ready has been so we are just waiting on the release of it. I see no reason why you wouldn’t be able to run all the applications you were running before.
Jan 21, 2008 @ 22:13:39
Alex, The way that I jailbroke my iPhone is by rolling it back to 1.1.1 and then breaking it and updating it to 1.1.2. So you should be able to roll a 1.1.3 iPhone back to .1 or .2 as long as you have the firmware.
Jan 22, 2008 @ 18:23:37
I don’t see much talk about iPhoneBrowser, just mostly SSH’ing apps/files into your iPhone and touch. If anyone is interested, iPhoneBrowser allows drag and drop, and many other features for those of us not too confident in Putty or other SSH apps. I found it free

GUISE??? is it possible for the hacky people to create thier own firmware versions current with the apple releases via some sort of decompilation?
Best Regards Nick

Im confused, my friend showed me his jail breaked touch and I had just bought the new apps. for my touch. I was wandering, if I jailbreak it with this new 1.3 jailbreak, do I first have to have the first two versions before I can get it? Also, if I get it can I keep my 20 dallor apps, or will I just lose them?
