It seems a lot of people want NES ROMs, but it also seems when they try to get them they are greeted with this unpleasant message: No NES ROMs Found. Please Upload ROMs to /var/mobile/Media/ROMs/NES. What does this mean?!? I’m going to to my best to try to answer this question because I know a lot of you are getting pretty annoyed about this.
What this all comes back to is that firmware 1.1.3 really messed things up for us. Before 1.1.3 was released there were some problems with adding NES ROMs to the iPod Touch, but no where near as many as there are now. The main thing that is most likely confusing and messing up a lot of people is the fact that NES ROMs were saved in a slightly different file path back on 1.1.1 and 1.1.2. 1.1.3 and 1.14 use the new different file path.
So, what are the two file paths?
For an iPod Touch with 1.1.1 or 1.1.2 the ROMs were saved in /var/root/Media/ROMs/NES
For an iPod Touch with 1.1.3 or 1.14 the ROMs go in /var/mobile/Media/ROMs/NES.
So the only real difference is that the “root” and “mobile” were swapped. Unfortunately this is more than enough of a change to cause major problems for a lot of you.
The next question a lot of you are probably have in your head is: But I never upgraded to 1.1.3, I’m still running 1.1.2, so why am I getting this same message?”. You are getting this message because you most likely updated to the newest version of the NES emulator (v2.0.4) and this version is made for 1.1.3. From the many e-mails I have received, I have noticed that the ones that are successful tend to be running the older version of the emulator, the one that was made for 1.1.1 and 1.1.2.
What can those of you who are having problems do? The answer is, you’re going to have to create the new file path EXACTLY as you see it above. This includes the proper capitalization. You can do this by downloading Mobile Finder in your installer.app or using any program to SSH into your iPod Touch. For the two programs I like, as well as for a guide of how to SSH, look at this post.
If you do all this and you still aren’t having any luck, uninstall the NES emulator and all the folders you just created. Make sure you save the ROMs, before you delete them! Once you have removed EVERYTHING, restart your iPod and try the entire process again. Hopefully the second time around it will work.

If someone can give me the version number of the old nes emulator I can probably find it. Then you would just have to replace the new version with the older one using SSH or iBrickr.

If you downgrade to the older nes app do you need to move the roms to /var/mobile/Media/ROMs/NES

I just went through this last week, it was a bitch. I tried the download from the ipod, nothing. I used a program called cuteFTP (for windows) to make a FTP connection to my ipod. (a week ago i didnt know what this was. Use the youtube vids) but it really worked. set up the program, create/delete/copy files etc in your ipod as you wish. i created the ROMs folder in my NES folder and it worked like a charm. use this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H1cTDb6qnWk
good luck all

its impossible to use the Finder app from installer to get it to work. You have to install a app like CuteFTP and connect to your ipod. I use CuteFTP and when you connect just hit back space and go to the mobile folder. Then create a folder in mobile called ROMs and make a folder for the emulator you have, such as NES or GBA, then place all your roms here and they should save. I even went and deleted the fodlers i made earlier in my root folder for roms.

I am pleased to announce that forums will be coming soon. Please click on the below link and tell me what you think.
I think this will be a good place where everyone can discuss iPod Touch hacking problems and it will be a great place to post sources and ishare account information.

July 31, 2008 at 6:22 am |
NES Emulator v 2.0.5-1 from Installer app.
iPhone firmware 1.1.4
AFP to Root File System > var/mobile/Media
Created folder /ROMs
Created folder /NES
Placed all my collected roms into:
var/mobile/Media/ROMs/NES
Still unable to find installed roms.
Sad.
Previous version of NES Emulator worked under previous Firmware.
Any clues?
Yes, I’ve done it twice.

This information helped me out immensely. I spent so much time trying to figure out why var/root/Media wasn’t working. Tonight is the first time I have jailbroken my iPhone and wasn’t aware about the directory change since everywhere you search online tells you to do it the old way.

Holy Cow. That worked fine. Thank you so much for the info.
