iPod Touch: gpSPhone With the Gba_bios.bin Included (Repo / Source)!

Are you tired of trying to use a repo/source to add the gba bios? The majority of the repos out there that have the gba bios don’t work and you will continue to see the dreaded “Sorry, but ipSP requires a Gameboy Advance” message. For those of you still continue to see this message, today is the last day for that! Thanks to user Steven over at the Lonman06 forums for pointing this out and the guys at iROM for this repo.

The repo I am going to list below installs the gpSPhone with the bios, so there is no need for you to manually add it and worry that it is a non-working bios.

Before you add this repo and install the gpSPhone, I just want to remind you of a few things.

1. Make sure that you uninstall any previous version of gpSPhone before installing this version.

2. This repo is for 1.1.3 and 1.1.4 only.

3. Downloading ROMs that you don’t own is illegal, please read my disclaimer at the top of the page.

4. If you have any questions or comments head over to the forums and post them there. You must register before you can see any posts.

Without further ado, the repo to add the gpSPhone with the gba bios is: http://iromrepo.com/repo/delta/repobeta.xml

Once you add it and your sources have refreshed, go back and look for “iRoms” in your catergory list.

Now install the “gpSPhone w/ bios”.

You are now done, you should have a working gba bios and gpSPhone ready to play GBA ROMs!

  6. Some guy Says:

Anonymous, do you have write access to the folder where the ROMs are stored? Emulators like this one store save information into a file with the name of the ROM and the extension “*.sav”. If you don’t have write-access in the folder where the ROMs are held, those files can’t be created.

I had a similar problem for downloading the GBA bios (I did everything by hand w/ the sendspace method). A way to give yourself write access would be to install OpenSSH and BSD subsystem from Installer and then use an SSH client (PuTTY worked for me), and then find the folder where the ROMs are held. After you find where they’re being held, then try this…

    su
    # root password for 1.1.4 is alpine, not sure about any earlier versions of the firmware
    chmod 777

That should help you out. (I hope)

Oh, and one more thing. If you install a terminal application for the iPod Touch / iPhone, then you don’t even need to install OpenSSH; you can simply run the commands in the terminal. I don’t really like using one of the terminal applications, though, as I can’t stand typing on them.

  7. Some guy Says:

Ack! I forgot to finish the command…

    su
    chmod 777

  8. Some guy Says:

Oh, it cuts off whatever I have in brackets. Let me try this one more time. Sorry about the triple post…

    su
    chmod 777 folder_name

does the version of the iphone matter?

  59. I-Blood-Hound-I Says:

I’m not sure if the gpSPhone works on 3.0 Firmware or not, but I am trying it out, manually, by computer, SSHing. So far with 2.2.1 Firware I have had NO luck, YES I have had my permissions sets to 0755 for my ROMs, BIOs, AND the Emulator.app; nothing worked, so hopefully more luck with the 3.0 Firmware, and actually, I’m not jailbreaking my iPod yet because I had 3.0 Jailbroke and it took up 1Gig plus most of the Cydia apps don’t work. BUT all of the official iPod apps work like app store, calculator, etc… YES Installous DOES work on 3.0, and if you choose to update your iPod instead of restore to 3.0, then make sure you download the 3.0 Patch for cracked apps to work, found under the Hackulous Repository; DO NOT DOWNLOAD THE 2.2.1! Also, for those of you wondering, 3.0 is definitely a wise upgrade, because there is ALOT of major updates, same basic look, but a few extras which i will explain now. First, the most obvious, on your SpringBoard, app screen, if you scroll all the way left, you will find a “search iPod” for ANYTHING in relatance to what you typed, even on non primary apps like Myspace Mobile. Also, youtube has been update to when you click on a videos’s more info, all the comments are there, as well as the FULL description and a bunch of other stuff. Another kool update is the landscape veiw with is native to most primary apps. What this means is that, say you go to mail, you can now turn your ITouch/Phone sideways and it will enter fullscren which allows wide buttons for typing and a wider view, there are lots of other minor and a few other major updates but those are the main. 61. I-Blood-Hound-I Says:

Alright, here is a critical update guys, so listen closely. As you may or may not know, I updated my iPod Touch 2G firmware to 3.0, well i did decide to jailbreak it, after i RESTORED my ipod, and now I am truly amazed to find this out, 95% of the Cydia apps work! I have Winterboard, sbsettings, categories, installous and a few others, all working fine. Now, I Also got my GBA emulator to work WITHOUT a computer an heres exactly how I did it. Download gpSPhone from Cydia under the Games category, then get ishare and ifile from Cydia also. Now make sure you install the gba_bios.bin BEFORE any games. Now go to the IShare app and create and account or sign in to a previous, then click download and at the VERY end of the URL, http://www.Sendspace.com/File/, your going to want to put a code after the “/File/” which will let you download files and direct where to put them into your system files. So your going to want to put “8okx8s” after the “/File/” this is the gba bios, then place it under /user/var/mobile/media/ROMs/GBA/ now after its done downloading then go to “IFile” app and find the GBA bios then set the permissions to 755, to do this click on the file, then go to properties and go to permissions, then set user to the first three, group to the first and second, and world to the first and second, now all you have to do is add the ROMs and your done
