How many of you opened up iTunes this morning and saw that there was an update available to firmware 2.0 on your iPod Touch? Well, it’s been there since 9am EST this morning and you still don’t have the new firmware. What’s the reason for this you ask?
Well basically, Apple is a little bit overwhelmed today and they are having a lot of trouble with there activation servers, which is why you keep getting that “can’t connect to iTunes” message when you try to purchase the update. They have been working on fixing this all day and it is still not working.
User paul over at the forums has posted a thread on how you can manually download the firmware. Since I’m not exactly sure of the legality of downloading this firmware I am not going to post the actual instructions on how to manually do this. I am going to point you over to the actual thread and you can decide for yourself if you want to go this route.
I would expect the official release of the 2.0 firmware for the iPod Touch to come sometime today, I know how painful it is to wait, so if you go ahead and try to download the 2.0 firmware from the thread I posted, post any comments or questions over at the forums.
**UPDATE** The link has been taken down, looks like it is back to a waiting game for 2.0 now.

umm, the link actually didn’t work for me. This is the real jon by the way- from the forums. I tried to get the firmware forever. Its already 7:14 where I am, and still no 2.0

from my point of view alot of ppl seem like its the end of the work just because ipod 2.0 isnt working it not just this site but everywhere including me……..ahhhhhhhhhahahahahaha

If anyone needs max speed, I’ve uploaded the firmware to rapidshare. If you have dsl, you can just turn off, then turn on your modem after each part so you don’t have to wait. The links are below in 3 parts.

Not only here, 2.0 firmware is very hard to get_- Most famous firmware link site also supports 2.0, but the speed is only 7kb/sec..
