iPhone Jailbreak: SiriToggles from Cydia

This is exactly why I love jailbreaking, SiriToggles from cydia is a great new iPhone 4s jailbreak tweak that greatly expands the everyday use of Siri which is currently in beta. As many of you know, Siri can be very useful, but there a many everyday uses that are left to be desired and this is where SiriToggles comes in (and I must say it does a great job).

With SiriToggles you can do useful tasks such as enabling/disabling wifi. This is simply done by the the command of “enable wifi or turn on wifi”. The same can be done with screen brightness and airplane mode. The other great feature is the ability to launch apps. Simple say launch followed by the name of the app and siri will open it for you. This can even be done from the lockscreen and don’t worry, if you have a passcode you will still be required to enter it before the app is opened.

I highly recommend this simple, but every effective cydia tweak. This is just the first release of SiriToggles for the iPhone 4s, so expect to see many great enhancements to Siri from SiriToggles in the future!

Jailbreak: iOS 5 Jailbreak

Less than 24 hours after the iOS 5.0 beta was released to developers, news has come out that iOS 5.0 has successfully been jailbroken. At this time this is just a tethered jailbreak, meaning that each time your iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad is rebooted it must be connected to the computer. For those of you considering this iOS 5.0 jailbreak read on for more info.

The key thing to remember here is that 5.0 is beta software and the 5.0 jailbreak from limera1n is released for developing purposes, so most of the current cydia apps will not work and may result in problems with your device. As of right now sbsettings and activator are known to have 5.0 compatibility problems.

For those of you who want to give this a go, you must be on a mac, click here for the download.

Please remember to back up your device before you attempt to jailbreak 5.0. Feel free to post any other cydia apps that are not compatible with the new tethered iOS 5.0 jailbreak. At this time the release date for a 5.0 untethered jailbreak is not known and will most likely not be released until the iOS 5.0 official release.

RecognizeMe: Facial Recognition Unlock in Cydia

RecognizeMe is a new cydia app that can be used to unlock your iPhone by facial recognition. It has just officially be released in the cydia app store. Is this app worth the hefty $7 price tag? Read on to find out.

Before I get into the app, here is a video showing you how the app works:

So as you can see, RecognizeMe use your iPhone’s front facing camera (no so iPhone 3GS) to detect your face and unlock your phone. This sounds great in principle, but does it really work? Unfortunately right now there is a lot to work out with this app. I had many problems with the facial recognition. Either it didn’t work at all or it unlocked with a face other than mine.

At $7, I do not RecognizeMe is a smart buy at this time, however the app does have potential and if the bugs can all be worked out I would be willing to recommend this app. Please continue to check back for updates to this post. I truly do hope that RecognizeMe from the cydia app store can become a useful and secure unlocking app.

Jailbreak: iPad 2 Jailbreak?

I know all of you who own the iPad 2 have been patiently (or not so) waiting to jailbreak it. I know the wait can be hard, but it looks like we are going to have to wait a few more weeks for it. Word is that p0sixninja on chronic dev team plans to release the iPad 2 jailbreak within the next couple of weeks.

This jailbreak will be similar to the last one that was released where you have to put your iPad in DFU mode to start jailbreaking, where blackra1n and spirit were both one click jailbreaks. This jailbreak will be compatible with iOS 4.3 and above.

In a bit of other iPad 2 jailbreak news, i0n1c, the guy behind iOS 4.3.3 / iOS 4.3.2 / iOS 4.3.1 untethered jailbreak for all iOS devices except iPad 2, is working now independently on an iPad 2 jailbreak. i0n1c has mentioned via his Twitter that he will no longer give exploits for free.

Keep checking back for the latest updates and hopefully soon enough the iPad 2 jailbreak will be released for all of us!

Gba_bios.bin iPhone/iPod Touch Download

If you are looking for the gba-bios_bin download for your iPhone/iPod Touch then you have come to the right place. I frequently get emails from many visitors to this site asking how to get gba4iphone to play GBA ROMs. gpSPhone does not include the gba_bios.bin file which is the file that is needed to get the player to work. I have looked around and found a working download link for this file. Before you download this file, please remember to click the disclaimer tab in the above right.

The gba_bios.bin file is available for download by clicking here.

After downloading, put the file in this directory: /var/root/Media/ROMs/GBA. If you don’t want to use a computer to add the file you can download the dropbox app and then use iFile to manually move the file over to the required directory.

iPhone iOS 5 Details(Rumors)?

With the summer quickly approaching us everyone is wondering if we will see the iPhone 5 and if we will see iOS 5 any time soon. Unfortunately what I am hearing from a very reliable source, which will remain nameless is that we will not be seeing anything new until September.

This is what I have been told:
-Expect to see a preview of iOS 5 WWDC in June.
-There will be no new announcement or preview of the iPhone 5 at WWDC.
-iOS 5 will feature an entirely revamped notification system.
-iOS 5 will have a redisgned lockscreen.
-Look for much more in the way of voice intergration with iOS (similar to android).
-Incorporation of native Apple map application(good-bye Google?).
-Look for many other UI changes as well.
-No mention of OTA OS updates.

So there you have it, we have lots to look forward to iPhone iOS 5. As always I will post anything else that I hear, so check back for updates.

Cydia: Lockinfo Updated (3.0.3.10, 3.0.3.11)! Changes Highlighted!

The popular cydia app Lockinfo has been updated to version 3.0.3.11. 2 version have been released and highlights of fixes of both versions have been posted.

Here is a screen shot of the change log for lockinfo version 3.0.3.11 and 3.0.3.10.

I am very interested in the significantly improved battery life and rest assure I will test this and report back in a few days.

For anyone else who uses lockinfo (and I know there are many), give this a try and report your battery findings as well if you get the chance. Now what are you waiting for? Grab your iPhone and open up cydia and update lockinfo to 3.0.3.11!
