In my opinion Bloons Tower defense for the iPod Touch/iPhone is a must have even if you aren’t into the whole tower defense game type. I knew the moment this game was announced that it was going to be great and sell well in the App store. Based off the ever so popular flash game online, this game is almost a direct port from the popular internet flash game. That being said I actually do think that the iPod Touch/iPhone version has the edge over the flash online version.

I downloaded Bloons Tower defense the day it came out from from the App Store and for those of you wondering the price is $2.99 (not bad at all in my opinion). Now the great thing about this game is that is a large selection of maps available (4 as of right now) with varying difficulty ranging from easy to hard.

Now do not be fooled about this game, the concept may seem simple: just pop the balloons before they get to the other side, but trust me it gets very hard. I had a very hard time beating this game on easy at first! You can spend hours playing this game, so make sure you keep an eye on the clock so you don’t waste your whole day away!

With hours of gameplay and re playability, this game is a “no brainer” in my opinion. Future updates of this game will contain more maps and perhaps other new towers as well, so your $2.99 will go a long way.

If you have a Blackberry storm, then today is your lucky day, OS 5.0.0.323 leaked late (or early) this morning. If your one of those that has to have the newest OS on your phone then today is a good day for you.

This OS is very stable and finally fixes the media bug that has plagued all other 5.0 OS leaks recently. In fact this OS is so stable that it is rumored that this will be the OS to release on the new Storm 2 in a few weeks.

The one thing that has been confirmed is that the boot of time has significantly decreased to around 2 minutes, so no more waiting 5 minutes or so for a start up. For those of you who just want to know where to get is just click here and you will be running 5.0.0.323 in no time on your Blackberry Storm.

If you have a Blackberry Tour, I highly suggest you update to the leaked 5.0.0.230. There are many reasons why I would recommend it, so read on to find out why!

First off and the biggest reason to get 5.0.0.230 for the Blackberry Tour is threaded SMS. For those who are unaware of this greatly demanded feature that all blackberries had lacked in the past, the concept is pretty simple: view your SMS in chat form. No more having to scroll through tons of messages from the same contact, now each contact will take up one line in your sms inbox.

Another great reason to upgrade to 5.0.0.230 is speed of default internet browser. By now I think most people know that the default internet browser provided by blackberry is no speed demon, actually sometimes, it can be downright slow. With the leaked 5.0.0.230 the speed of the browser has been greatly improved. The biggest change I have noticed is that images load up much faster, sometimes twice as fast as before.

For those who pay close attention to details, you will notice (if you are on verizon) that the usual 1x EVDO in the upper right corner of your phone’s screen has been replaced by 3G, which to me, seems to make much more sense.

As with any unofficial release (as well as many official releases) of there will always be a bug or two present. The two bugs that I have found are with the media player and the sound profiles.

The media player bug can be a bit annoying. What basically happens is when you are listening to the first song on your device, once it ends the second song will play but you will not hear anything. You must pause the song and then hit play for it to resume. Note: this only happens when using headphones. I have tried numerous things to fix this problem, including swapping out different media files from other operating systems, but nothing has fixed this problem.

The second problem is that some profiles reset when you reset your device. This can be annoying for third party applications such as facebook and other chat programs.

To me, these 2 bugs are not enough to steer me away from this operating system and I know RIM will address these 2 issue in a later release.

Once you have downloaded the file and installed it, open up blackberry desktop manager and install it on your device.

Important note: before upgrading to 5.0.0.230 on your Blackberry Tour make sure that you disconnect your computer from the internet once the file is downloaded and before you open up desktop manager.

For everyone that had been waiting for a 3.1.2 jailbreak on your iPod Touch and iPhone (thanks to Blackra1n) , now is the time to finally update! While this process is relatively painful, there are a few things you need to know if you are new to this whole concept.

First off, unfortunately there is still not a complete working jailbreak for the new third generation (3G) iPod touch. This will work for the first and second generation (1G and 2G) as well as the new iPhone 3GS.

As always, before doing anything, I highly suggest syncing your iPod touch or iPhone to iTunes and backing it up just in case anything goes wrong.

Once you have completed backing up your device, just unzip the files if you are on a mac and install the .exe file if you are on a PC.

Once the program is running, you will see a box on your screen with a clickable button saying “make it ra1n”.

If you haven’t already done so, connect/reconnect your iPod Touch/iPhone to your computer and click this button.

This whole process should only take a minute or less, you will know everything has worked successfully if you see this image on your screen before your device reboots:

And there you have it, you have successfully jailbroken your ipod touch/iphone on the new 3.1.2 operating system!

Help I’ve got dust under the screen of my blackberry storm! What should I do? These always seem to be the first thoughts when this happens to most people. I like many of you have dust under the screen of my blackberry storm. As of right now I haven’t exchanged my storm for a new one and here are my reasons why.

First off, remember if you have purchased your storm after 30 days ago you will receive a factory refurbished one, not a new one. This may not bother some people, but I have had plenty of bad experiences with refurbished items.

Second, the click screen on my storm is great. It clicks perfectly and evenly in all areas. I know this is not the case for all storms and have I have seen countless people complaining about their click screens online.

Third, RIM has yet to come out with a fix to this problem, so exchanging for a new storm isn’t going to fix the dust problem, it is just going to delay the inevitable: you will get dust under your screen sooner or later.

Now that I have let you known my reason for keeping my storm even with the dust I know that some of you are wondering how dust gets in there in the first place. Well its pretty simple and it was a concern that I had from the day I purchased my storm. The storm screen isn’t one screen, it is actually two screens: a thin outer screen that has the touch sensors and a thick inner screen that is responsible for the clicking mechanism.

As I am sure you have already noticed, the screen can move around a bit since it has to click and there are sizable gaps on all sides. It is very easy for dust to get into these gaps and unfortunately some of it manages to break through the weak seal that holds the two screens together. So this dust that you think is under your screen is actually wedged in between the two screens.

So what can you do to get the dust out? Not much is what i would tell you. I can tell you one thing, regardless of what you have read online, do not use compressed air to remove the dust, it will only end up forcing more dust into your phone. There are countless videos online (youtube) that show I have seen, ranging from physically peeling the outer screen off the inner screen with your fingernails (not smart) to a full removal of the storm’s faceplate and screen. You may try these things at your own risk, but remember you are violating you warranty by doing these and if you break your storm you are screwed. For example I know that many people have broken their screens by trying to pry them off with their fingernails.

My best advice concerning this problem is to just deal with it and if it does get to the point where it is unbearable for you, then exchange it for a factory refurbished device.

I will continue to monitor the blackberry storm screen dust problem and see if RIM ever addresses this problem. If any of you have a cleaver way of fixing this problem once dust is already under the screen please feel free to comment and share it with all of us.
